Our world is very varied. We can see only small part of it through the window. We’ve got used to our native city or village. But unknown world always allures us. Different countries, different nations, other traditions. Everything is so interesting, various.
What can help us to learn the world? I am sure that learning languages can.
Life is impossible without language. From the early childhood we learn our native language. We take it with the mother’s milk, with the every breath of native air, with the every ray of the sun, with the every drop of the rain. While growing up we understand that the world is much wider and bigger then we can see. So, we begin to find ways to explore it.
Wise people say that one of the ways to explore the world is to learn foreign languages. As for me it is true.
In school I learn two foreign languages: English and German. I like English very much. It is a language spoken all over the world. Everywhere you come you can meet people who speak English. If you speak English you will not be an alien wherever you come. I can say that English is the language of the world. It is also the major international language of communication in such areas as science, technology, business and mass entertainment. All of us like English songs. I remember when I was a little child I tried to sing English songs without understanding the meaning of the words. It was very funny. All of us like to watch the English films. And I am always very proud when I can understand the phrases without translation.
My favorite TV programme is “Eagle and tails”. I watch it every Sunday. And I can see the importance of fluent speaking English. The presenters of the programme every weekends visit different countries. And wherever they come they communicate with people in English.
I think to learn the world you don’t need to leave your home. While learning language you read a lot of books in English. So you learn about far countries, their places of interest, their inhabitants, traditions, habits, history, famous people and culture. You can imagine the world you have never visited before. So you can build the plans for future. And you will do everything to make your dreams come true.
We leave in the era of the Internet and social networks. Young people can’t imagine their lives without Facebook or Vkontakti, without Instagram or Ask. They take our free time but they give us great opportunity to communicate with people from all over the world. They open the doors to other countries for us. It doesn’t matter poor you or rich, where you live, what is your nationality, if you’re a teenager you want to share you photos, thoughts, you want to find new friends. And English is a universal language for such social networks.
Speaking about English I do not want to belittle the role of German in my life. Actually, I want to know it as well as English. I dream of learning French and Spanish. Everybody knows the proverb: “The more languages you speak, the more of a person you are”. I agree with this proverb. I can say that I’ll do my best to learn foreign languages to explore the world for me.

Who would not want to travel the world, visit distant lands, to see incredible landscapes, meet interesting people, try someone else's food, watching other people's traditions? The world is so big, incredibly beautiful, diverse. It is hard to imagine what is there behind the horizon, what surprises are waiting for us there. How interesting it would be to look beyond the veil of the unknown. All this is possible if you study foreign languages. Because language - is the soul of the people, its essence, its most important feature. Studying a language, we touch the soul, penetrate in its essence, enthusiastically learn a lot of interesting things.
I know learning foreign languages is not easy. It takes much time. We often lazy to learn new words, understand the rules of grammar. And fortunately in today's world so many opportunities to learn the language interesting and fun. Our good helper is the Internet. On the Internet we are able to make friends around the world, share with them your thoughts, ideas, communicate in a variety of topics. This is a great opportunity to practice communicating in foreign languages.
I'm now studying English and German. Of course, I would like to know them better and want to learn other languages, such as Italian. My mother worked several years in Italy. She is now at home, but often communicates with Italian friends on Viber or Skype. Then I enthusiastically watching how easily she spoke Italian and I love it. I even understand some words already. This is a very good example to follow.
I agree with the statement "to learn the language - to know the world." This is true. While studying the language, we are immersed in a world where they speak this language, become closer to other countries.
